Autumn Events at St. Peter’s
Youth Sundays (August 30 & September 13)
These are “regular Sundays” with youth serving as greeters, readers, intercessors, oblation bearers, ushers, acolytes and chalice bearers at the 10:00 a.m. Eucharist. JoAnn Osmond is coordinating this effort. If your child or young adult would like to participate, please call JoAnn (228-0032).
Pot-luck Supper and Bible Chat with Father Perry
Father Perry will be hosting a series of three pot-luck suppers and Bible chats during the fall. Each gathering will begin at 5 p.m. in Phelps Hall with a pot-luck supper followed by a lively discussion about the Bible, faith, and our everyday lives. We wrap up around 7 p.m. Watch for the dates and please join us!
This final session will include a featured Bible story or reading. Father Perry will provide some background information concerning the passage, followed by provocative and lively discussion. The aim of these conversations will be to allow time for people to reflect on how faith can become a meaningful support during our current turbulent times.
What you need to bring:
A Bible of your choice
A contribution for our pot-luck supper
Yourself and anyone you think might enjoy this evening
An open heart and mind
Confirmation and Inquirer’s classes begin this fall
Confirmation Class For youth
This fall will begin a new cycle of preparation for those interested in being confirmed as members of the Episcopal Church. Confirmation Classes will be open to all young people who will be enrolled in high school this fall. The classes will continue for a 2-year period with confirmation occurring in the spring of 2011.
Inquirer’s Class For adults
Any adults who have not yet been baptized, those who have been baptized but not yet confirmed in the Episcopal Church or parishioners seeking a deeper understanding of the traditions of our church are urged to speak to Father Perry about joining his Inquirer’s Class. The class includes a history of the Episcopal Church, a summary of our belief, a review of the Book of Common Prayer and an overview of the Bible. Other sessions will address various aspects of spirituality, faith and practice and are designed to be engaging, informative and thought-provoking. We will be sensitive to the time constraints facing adults and flexible in both meeting times and expected commitment to the program.
Both programs offer opportunities for members of St. Peter’s to explore ways of making faith a more integral part of our life journey. We hope you choose to join us. See Fr. Perry for more information.
