Worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness...Psalm 96:9
Our Worship Commission helps the rector plan and coordinate the parish's worship services. They insure that persons are properly trained and scheduled, and that our worship experiences take full advantage of the wide variety of options offered by the Book of Common Prayer. This ministry includes coordinating the annual Blessing of the Animals, Healing Services, and the many other special services that we hold each year.
Caring for Our Neighbors
Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God. Hebrews 13:16
Our Outreach ministry develops programs and projects that reach out to people in need: in the parish, in the community, the diocese, and the world. This ministry includes collecting food, clothing, toiletries, and getting these things into the hands of people who can use them; building homes for the homeless in Honduras, supporting local soup kitchens, and supporting our adopted social worker through the Covenant to Care project
Caring for Each Other
Through love be servants of one another...Romans 5:13
Our Pastoral Concerns Commission coordinates lay pastoral activities in our parish: visiting the sick, sending cards and flowers to people who are hospitalized, coordinating meals for families in crisis, and coordinating nursing home services. This commission also is responsible for coordinating various pastoral functions such as funeral receptions, overseeing Nursing Home services and visitations, and the scheduling of our lay Eucharistic Ministers.
Caring for Our Church Home
O LORD, I love the house in which you dwell, and the place where your glory abides. Psalm 26:8
Our Building and Grounds ministry involves caring for our church property, including our historic church and cemetery, grounds, and rectory. Our caring involves developing and maintaining a priority list of property projects, securing estimates and bids, and making sure the work gets done and done well.
Growing as Christians
Let everyone be fully convinced in his own mind...Romans 14:5
Our Christian Formation ministry involves caring for the Christian education and spiritual formation activities of the parish, including our growing Sunday School, our Ecumenical Vacation Bible School, and all of our adult education programs. This ministry also includes planning and coordinating parish retreats and quiet days, and the maintenance of our tract rack and library.
Making New Christian Friends
Go therefore and make disciples… Matthew 28:19
Our Evangelism ministry involves planning and coordinating activities and programs to welcome newcomers and help them become a part of our parish life. This ministry includes visiting members we don't see often, supervising and training greeters, and planning and coordinating special Sundays designed to welcome visitors and newcomers.
Enjoying Each Other
Day by day, as they spent much time together in the temple, they broke bread at home and ate their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having the goodwill of all the people. And day by day the Lord added to their number those who were being saved. Acts 2:46-47
Our Fellowship ministry involves planning and coordinating programs and events to help us have fun together and to enjoy each other's company. This may include traditional pot luck suppers, Sunday morning Coffee Hour, theater nights, thank-you dinners, craft circles, ice cream socials and parish picnics.
Spreading the News
As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!"Romans 10:15b
Our Communications Commission is responsible for keeping the parish and the community informed of the many programs and services we offer. News is distributed through our parish newsletter, The Voice, and news releases to area newspapers. This commission is also responsible for the development and maintenance of our parish web site.
Sharing Our Gifts
”But who am I, and what are my people, that we should be able to make this freewill offering? For all things come from you, and of your own have we given you.” 1 Chronicles 29:14
Our Stewardship Commission plans and coordinates our annual time/talent drive, our annual financial pledge drive, annual gift giving, capital funds drives, planned giving, and programs concerning wills and bequests.
Raising Money for Ministry
All who believed were together and had all things in common; they would sell their possessions and goods and distribute the proceeds to all, as any had need. Acts 2:44
Our Fund Raising ministry involves planning and coordinating our fund raising calendar, and working with the various committees and chairpersons who are responsible for our different fund raising events. This ministry also includes developing new fund raising ideas, and finding people to head them up.
Our Ministry of Prayer
Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
An important part of our parish life centers around our prayer ministry. We maintain a parish prayer list that is remembered at each of our Eucharists and parish members are encouraged to pray for those on our prayer list as part of their devotional time. Prayer Services of healing are a regular part of our weeday and Sunday morning worship services. We also support a prayer chain that is activated when special needs arise.
